Staff operational text alerts

Access Business Technologies sends a small number of work alerts by text to its own employees, and only to the employees who have signed up for them.

This page explains exactly how an employee signs up, what they agree to, and how they stop. It is published so that anyone, including our carriers and messaging partners, can see how consent is collected.

The program

What this program is

This is an internal program. Access Business Technologies is the sender and its own employees are the recipients. The messages tell an employee that something at work is waiting on them, so that a request does not sit for days unseen.

  • Who receives messages: employees of Access Business Technologies who have signed up. Nobody else.
  • What the messages say: that a work activity item or a time off approval needs their attention.
  • How often: message frequency varies. These are sent only when something actually needs attention.
  • Cost: message and data rates may apply.
  • Not marketing: this program carries no advertising, no promotions, and no offers. It is not used to contact customers or the public.
  • Never required: signing up is voluntary. An employee who does not sign up receives the same notifications by email instead.
Example message ABT alert: a time off approval is waiting for your review. Reply STOP to opt out, reply HELP for help.

Consent

How an employee signs up

There is one way to join this program and no other. It happens on a consent form the employee completes and signs themselves.

  1. The employee receives the consent formAccess Business Technologies sends the form to the employee. The form is not pre-filled with a phone number.
  2. The employee writes their own mobile numberThey enter their own number themselves. No manager, administrator, or coworker can enter a number for someone else, and no numbers are added from a directory, a payroll record, or any other list.
  3. The employee checks the consent boxThe box is not checked in advance. The employee has to check it, and the exact wording next to it is reproduced below.
  4. The employee signs and dates the formThe signed form is the consent record. It is kept for as long as the employee stays in the program and for a reasonable period afterward.
  5. Only then does any message go outNo text is sent to a number until the signed form for that number is on file.

The exact wording

What the employee agrees to

This is how the consent appears on the form, word for word. The checkbox sits directly beside this wording, and it is not checked in advance.

The mobile number field on the form is blank when the employee receives it, and the consent box is unchecked. Both have to be completed by the employee for the form to be accepted.
