FOLSOM, Calif. – Sierra Pacific Partners with Access Business Technologies

DocumentGuardian™, a newly released feature of the MortgageWorkSpace® platform from Access Business Technologies, bypasses vulnerable email communications to give loan and mortgage companies a lightning-fast way to receive tax returns and other sensitive financial documents from applicants. The simple drag-and-drop interface allows borrowers to easily provide non-public information without concern that it will be compromised or that their identities will be stolen by hackers.

Best Option for Secure Transmission

In the past, loan officers didn't have many options for digital transmission of documents. Email is notoriously insecure and even file-sharing apps can be accessed by hackers when documents are stored insecurely on individual computers or mobile devices. There are ways to secure email, but they can be cumbersome and involve using special passwords and unfamiliar software -- an issue for less-computer-savvy borrowers.

DocumentGuardian is the ideal solution for the problem of transmitting sensitive loan materials. Loan officers send each borrower a link to a tightly secured webpage, where they can drag and drop the requested documents. Setup is handled by the loan officer, so borrowers don't need to register or create usernames and passwords for their account. Shared documents are stored on the cloud using highly secure, 256-bit encryption.

"Our company has been looking for the perfect solution to receive sensitive data from our borrowers," said Robert Myers, President at Liberty Home Loans. "Finally, there's a quick and secure way to get what we need from borrowers, and one that's simple for them to use."

Easy to Remain in Compliance

Using DocumentGuardian is also a good way to remain compliant with state and federal regulations related to the sending and storage of financial data. Compliance auditors often look at how sensitive documents are sent to loan companies, and the use of email or insecure file-sharing software is a big red flag.

"We are always looking for more efficient ways to fill in the gaps," said Brian Walker, Owner at Walker Brokerage Group. "Knowing that we can easily be in compliance and not have to worry about the accidental transmission of insecure data is vital. We're excited to have this solution for our loan officers."

A Host of Convenient Features

In addition to its simple drag-and-drop interface and SSL 256-bit encryption, DocumentGuardian also features:

  • Unlimited borrower document uploads
  • Unlimited file size for uploaded documents
  • No complicated software to download and learn
  • No need for the borrower to create a username and password or register for a special account
  • Virus scanning so infected documents cannot be transmitted
  • Acceptance of only designated "safe" file types
  • Settings that allow expiration of documents after a certain date or number of downloads
  • Real-time log and archive of all account activity so you can track when and where borrowers sent in documents

Access Business Technologies is also working with loan officers to integrate DocumentGuardian's personalized file drop pages right into their email signatures, so it's especially easy for borrowers to click, drag and drop.

All current MortgageWorkSpace users can access and use DocumentGuardian for free. MortgageWorkSpace is a cloud-based platform that securely hosts software applications and data for mortgage professionals, allowing them to work from any computer or mobile device.

The addition of DocumentGuardian to the suite of services that MortgageWorkSpace offers is one more way for loan companies to confirm to borrowers that their information will be kept secure. It also helps mortgage companies of all sizes stay compliant with the many, ever-changing regulations from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
